2022 has been a turbulent year in many ways and with things still looking very uncertain with the cost of living, many of us will be looking carefully at our spending in December. But cheesy as it might be the most important thing at this time of year is family and friends and being with the people you love!

So, today we've got 8 wonderful ways you can spend some time with your little ones - nothing to break the bank here, just fun activities and traditions to fill your hearts with love.

No. 1: Festive baking

Christmas trees, snowflakes and snowmen are all fun shapes to make, cook and then decorate with small children. They can also make great gifts for family, friends and teachers if you’ve can keep them out of small hands and mouths.

No. 2: Christmas books

We love having a collection of Christmas-themed books which we bring out at the beginning of December and can enjoy in the lead up to the big day. Babies will love traditional books like The Snowman, Spot’s First Christmas and The Jolly Christmas Postman but there are new titles every year so there’s something out there for all ages.

Your local library is also sure to have a good selection of festive reading you can explore too.

No. 3: Walk around your local area to look at the lights

If you live in a neighbourhood with people who enjoy adorning their houses with twinkly lights then why not have some early evening strolls with your child to look at them? Simply seeing trees and windows lit up can be quite magical for little ones.

No. 4: Christmas crafts

Paper chains, paper snowflakes and tree decorations are all fun and cheap to make with little people and they’ll make your house look festive in no time!

No. 5: Santa tracker

From 1st December children can follow Father Christmas’s progress as he gets his deliveries ready with his elves at the North Pole.

One of the best things about having a baby is the amazingly cute outfits you can put them in! And Christmas is possibly the best time for it - Christmas puddings, reindeers and elves are just some of our favourites! Remember, there’s a great market for second hand Christmas clothes so make sure you check Facebook Marketplace, Vinted or eBay for some bargains.

No. 7: Making Xmas cards

Hand and footprints turned into reindeers or Christmas trees can be a cute and simple way of making cards for your friends and family. Older children may enjoy using paints, stencils or stickers for their creations. Let your creative juices flow!  We'll pop up a board on our pinterest so do pop over to have a look!

No. 8: Local events

There are sure to be Christmas fairs, carol concerts or nativity plays taking place in your local area so make sure you keep an eye out for details when you’re out and about.

Whatever your festive season looks like enjoy all those gorgeous memories & if you have any other ideas do pop them in the comments, Sophie x
